William Towers Prisoner 4099 Project

OutLOOK youth members and students at New College Worcester participated in an educational project with the National Archives.

The young people’s mission was to design a project using material from the National Archives which would; increase accessibility of the Archives themselves and produce a creative learning resource for schools across the country.

What is the National Archives?

The National Archives of England, Wales and the United Kingdom has one of the largest archival collections in the world, spanning 1000 years of British history, from Domesday Book of 1086 to government papers recently released to the public.

‘Crime and Punishment in Victorian Times’ was the chosen subject by the young people. As a result, both OutLOOK members and New College Worcester students attended ‘The Galleries of Justice’ and ‘The National Archives’ to gain a greater understanding of their subject.  Through research performed the young people decided on an interactive radio play based on a court room scene of a convicted child in Victorian Times, William Towers, Prisoner 4099.
