Youth Participation

What is Youth Participation?

Youth participation is where young people become involved with decision-making about youth rights in their community, town or city. Through youth participation young people are given the opportunity to help give advice to shops, libraries, clubs, leisure venues, restaurants, youth and disability services, and/or the local, national and European government on how their services or policies could be run.

What is Youth Participation with OutLOOK?

OutLOOK Youth gives young people with a visual impairment the opportunity to participate in decision-making that focuses on disability youth rights. For example; OutLOOK members worked with the National Archives to help increase the web-accessibility of www.learningcurve.go.uk/prisoner4099

OutLOOK members worked with the Right to Read Alliance to lobby the government in order to increase accessibility of books.

How do I get involved?
